    To my bidders: For years I have done business on eBay using the name: gpstorageco*. The items I will be selling from this point on are being sold from my estate and from the estates of friends and relatives.
    This US Model 1835/42 Socket Bayonet belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This was one of the blades in his collection of bayonets.
    This particular bayonet is US marked and is the socket style (see photos). It took me a while to identify it but eventually I noticed the distinctive shank and tapered clasp ring (see photos). Showing age and average use/wear the blade has some spotting & minor pitting along it's length (see photos). Some of the spotting & pitting might polish out if desired. The socket is very clean and complete with a clasp ring that swivels easily (see photos). The blade is marked US at the wrist and appears to have an "N" marked above it (see photos).
    No scabbard was found with the bayonet.
    This US Model 1835/42 socket bayonet is clean overall and is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described. It shows some expected age & wear but the overall presentation is excellent. Super display piece and great opportunity for the blade collector to get an authentic example.
