Description
US Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. The spine is marked "R&C" which stands for Rohrig & Co., of Solingen, Germany. The grip is tight and the guard will move a tiny bit if you force it. The leather is 95% complete, and
the twisted wire wrap is complete
. The blade is straight, mostly clean, very lightly sharpened,
the tip is sharp
, a few small nicks, a couple patches of age spots and light scabbard scratches. The scabbard is solid with a few dents on the last 7" by the drag and several little dings scattered throughout. The leather washer is intact. Length of the blade is 35 3/4" (1 3/16" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 41 3/8", and in the scabbard it is 42 1/2".
