    Description

Rare US Civil War Model 1861 Sword Bayonet with Leather Scabbard.
The ricasso is marked "Collins & Co." over what looks like a mis-stamped "Hartford" over "1861", no other markings can be seen anywhere. The brass guard is tight, solid, has a darkened patina, and overall shows typical wear. The blade is straight, unsharpened, the tip is sharp, no nicks, and it does have some scattered light age spots throughout
with a few having light surface rust. Lock button is functional but a little loose. Leather scabbard is mostly complete but broken in two, the brass has a darkened patina, the seam of the scabbard is 95% unsewn, the leather is dry and there is some loss with crazing throughout. Length of the blade measures 20 1/16" (1 1/16" wide x 5/16" thick), the bayonet is 24 3/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 25 1/4".
    The muzzle hole is 3/4".
