    Description

US Civil War Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword with Leather Scabbard.
The ricasso is faintly marked "C. Roby & Co" over "W. Chelmsford" over Mass". The grip is worn down to cloth and the twisted wire is gone. The guard and grip are tight.
    The beautifully etched blade
has "US", "Union", "E Pluribus Unum" banner, an eagle standing on a shield, flags, lots of etched floral and leaf designs, it
is unsharpened, the tip is sharp (the last 1/16" has a slight bend), several nicks along the blade edge, and age spots scattered throughout. The leather scabbard is mostly solid with light crazing throughout (heaviest near the drag), there is a break 10 1/2" up from the drag and there is a 3/4" section of leather missing. The backside of the throat mount is marked "C. Roby & Co." over "W. Chelmsford, Mass.".
Leather washer is missing. Length of the blade is 31 3/8" (1 1/8" wide and 1/4" thick), the sword is 37 1/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 37 1/2"
