US Army Forces in the Aleutian Islands White Back Patch Black Twill WWII Vintage

The Patch:
This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage US Army Forces in the Aleutian Islands shoulder patch with a white back.  This one is embroidered on black twill.
This patch has been used and is in good condition.   It has a very nice white backing.  This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic.
The History:  US Army personnel were stationed in the Aleutians as early as May of 1941 when
Fort
Mears
was established at
Dutch
Harbor
.  The existing posts in the Aleutians were strengthened after the Japanese were defeated on
Attu
in May of 1943 and retreated from Kiska in July.  A series of new outposts were also established.  U.S. Troops remained on Umnak, Amchitka, Attu, Kiska, Shemya, and the
Andreanof Islands
.  Studies were made for the invasion of Northern Japan using the
Aleutians
as stepping stones but success in the Central Pacific made this impractical.  The
Aleutians
were later placed under control of the Alaska Defense Command and later the Alaska Department.

I try not to post items with excessive wear because I want you to get good quality items. I try to post good photos of each item but they get shrunk down when they appear in the listing.
