    U.S. CIVIL WAR ERA M1840 NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER (NCO) SWORD - 30" Blade 39" Total Length
    Model M1840 non-commissioned officer (NCO) swords were issued to Sergeants and
    primarily used for parade drills. The U.S. Army used these swords from 1840 to about 1910.

    Possibly The Ames Sword Company of Massachusetts - manufactured, US Government Inspected Model with government armory sub-inspector stamp “JH” (John Hannis) in clear sharp stampings.
