The Technics SL-1800 MK2, released in 1979 in Japan, is a classic “Golden Era” turntable with a stellar reputation for quality. Like the well-known SP-10 MK2, this turntable features a rock-solid quartz phase-locked speed control, and the whole unit is built with quality and precision. With impressive technical specs, such as a wow and flutter of < 0.025% WRMS (JIS C5521), the SL-1800 has achieved a phenomenal reputation in the years following its release, and its exceptional sound and outstanding build quality are commonly expressed by critics as its winning features. In some ways, this SL-1800 is like a fully automatic version of the SL-1200 (one of the most widely-used turntables in the world). The "MK2" features some technical improvements over the first SL-1800, such as lower rumble noise, greater pitch control, and the quartz motor control. This turntable is in very good condition, with only minor aging, including some scratches and scuffs (see pictures). However, the whole unit has been tested by our professional technician, confirming its otherwise flawless operation. All playback settings work perfectly, and the platter rotation is stable.
