Struck civil war enfield bayonet. Battle damaged relic.

Description

Original Civil War Enfield bayonet. Presumably battle struck as lower portion of the socket has been violently ripped away on one side and leaving a very definite stress fracture on the other side of the socket as can be seen in the photos. Likely an early battlefield "Pick-up," or souvenier as the patina indicates, it was likely in the elements for many years but certainly not 150 years as there is no deep rusting or pitting evident.
