An exquisite Quadruple plated water jug from the Aesthetic Period.  The aesthetic period was a late 19th century movement originating in England that promoted the appreciation of art, for art's sake.  Its focused emphasized designs like the elaborate floral motifs and figural lion head accents on this jug made by Simpson Hall Miller & Co.  A silver hollowware manufacturer in Wallingford Connecticut founded in 1866.  Simpson Hall Miller & Co enjoyed a great success that led to their joining of the International Silver company before the turn of the century.
