Description
Highgrade Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked "Ridabock & Co." over "New York N.Y". The guard, grip, and pommel all move a little is you force them. The sharkskin grip shows light wear and is 99% complete. The twisted wire wrap is 100% complete. It has a brass tag on the knuckleguard that looks like a museum tag. The double clamshell has the typical eagle with flags on it on one side and on the folding clamshell is a shield with crossed cannons, swords, and rifle. The locking button under the folding clamshell is intact and functional. The etched blade is straight, unsharpened, the tip is very sharp, no nicks along the edges, and scattered light age spots mainly on the lower third towards the tip. The blade has "N.J" on one side and on the reverse is "Presented to Major Wm. R. Mason by the members of Co. F. 4th Reg't N.G.N.J. Feby 11, 1890". The highgrade scabbard is solid with no dents and a few scuff marks. The washer is missing. Length of the blade measures 31" (11/16" wide x 1/8" thick), length of the sword is 37 3/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 38 1/2".Check out my other War items!!
