Allied
Troops in Norway were part of the Allied Liberation Force formed under the direction of SHAEF and composed of US, British and Norwegian forces. The allied force landed in Norway 9th May 1945.
Issued to
troops involved in the liberation of Norway, April - September 1945. They are a book-matched (mirror image) pair so the ship is facing forward on both arms. I love the design: is it a midsummer night or a midwinter day in the far North?
White with black outline on royal blue background
(slightly lighter and brighter than the colour in the photos).
Probably made
in the UK
by the
Calico Printers' Association
for the British war office;
issued to troops on active service in
Operation Doomsday.
