    Description

    Original 1855 bayonet and scabbard.  The bayonet is very good with minimal light pitting mostly on the socket. There is mottling on the blade but the tip is sharp. Blade is marked with US and inspector's mark s. Locking ring turns freely. Scabbard is in great shape for a 166 year old piece of leather with minimal cracking. The stitching is loose, but not noticeable, from the throat to about half way down.  The finial is missing from the brass tip. The frog has heavy cracking with some lose. The loop is still attached in one small area but is not in usable condition.  Please look at all the pictures, I've tried to show the good, the bad and the ugly.  Thanks for looking!
