Original Ames M1832 Pre-Civil War Foot Artillery Sword Dated 1834

Description

Bought from an estate sale a very nice original Ames M1832 Pre-Civil War Foot Artillery Sword Dated 1834, Blade is Marked N P Ames Springfield and United Sates 1834. Cross Guard is marked S Huse Newburyport, with 2 inspectors Marks as well. The front of the guard has an unusual unit mark: K.1.P. 3. There is no scabbard. The sword is very Solid. It does have some dark staining with minor pitting. Sword tip is slightly rounded. Sword measures: 25” with blade, 19” just blade.
