Nice Original Early Civil War 1855 Springfield Bayonet and 2-Rivet Scabbard

Description

This is a nice example of an early war issue bayonet rig for the Springfield Rifled Musket. This set is not a married group and has always been together as found. It shows evidence of clear field use as the scabbard frog has the soldiers initials carved in. The leather is somewhat supple and not actively flaking or falling apart as most are, however it certainly shows it’s age. The bayonet itself has a dark patina and shows wear from campaign and garrison use. Nice war used rig that certainly saw the elephant.
