    Description

Naval Sword model 1852 marked U.S. on the blade reverse amid scrolls and bearing a U.S. motto amidst scrolls on the obverse side of the blade.  The spine of the blade bears the mark of the French Government owned Manuf. de Klingenthal works.  The sword grip is of rayskin with wire wrap,  the dolpin enhanced guard,  and the empirical eagle pommel.  The blade measures 31" with an overall sword length of 36 3/8".  The sword blade is darkened by aging, the proofmarks on the obverse ricasso are clear and the Klingenthal marking on the spine is aged but visible.  There isn't any rusting.  The scabbard is absent.
