    Description

    Model 1840 Horstmann Cavalry Officers Sabre.   This sword has a beautiful shiny etched blade.  One side of ricasso is marked: Horstmann Bros. & Co.   Other side is marked: New York.    It has 100% sharkskin wrap on the grip and all of its tight triple wire wrap.  This brass hilt was entirely gold washed when new,  now only small traces of gold remains on the untouched patina on the brass.  The scabbard is smooth brown metal with one small dent as I have shown in the picture.  This sword is a real beauty and these are getting hard to find in this condition.  See photos.  Questions welcomed.
