Luminous Jiuquan wine cups are made of natural spinach jade, found in Qilian mountains of northwest China, Qinghai province.  Set of 8 in original box. The jade though looks fragile but actually is very hard and can withstand very hot or cold temperatures.  The durability, the unusual raw materials and the complicated crafting make Jiuquan luminous cups popular collection.  It is said that when cups are filled with wine and used outdoor when the moon is out, they glow and glitter in moonlight.  It said in ancient Chinese poetry, "Tasty grape wine in cup, luminous at night light" 葡萄美酒夜光杯。Patches of translucent jade under light, a natural wonder.  Great for wine drinking, collectible or souvenirs.
