    Description

Keyring magnet assembly master pack (20 pcs.), helps you and your staff make fast assessments of jewelry, antiques, and industrial metals. Make sure everybody has one, or give them to your best customers and suppliers!  Now with a 60% stronger magnet than our previous version.
Find jewelry that is silver or gold plated if ferrous metals are used as the base metal (excluding some nickel alloys). If a magnet responds to jewelry, it is not fine silver or anything near pure gold.  Same goes for brass and bronze antiques, many are just brass plating over a steel or iron core.  The magnet can also be used to determine polished aluminum from stainless steel in most cases, and is very handy for testing industrial metals for recycling.
Metal recyclers, pawn shop owners, jewelers and treasure hunters should keep this on their keyring at all times.
    A powerful 5/16" N52
    grade
(6.5 lbs pull strength) neodymium rare earth magnet is encased in 6061 aluminum for durability and comes with a stainless steel split ring and a vinyl cap. Use it for:
Identify most steel grades and metal alloys that contain iron, nickel, or cobalt
Identify/sort chrome plated items from polished aluminum, silver, and non-magnetic grades of stainless steel (chrome plating requires a nickel layer, which is magnetic)
Identify/sort solid brass and bronze from steel plated items (handy in the antique market and hardware store)
Identify fake/plated jewelry, which often has steel or nickel alloys as the base material (some alloys, like nickel-silver and German silver are non-magnetic, despite having ferrous metals present). Generally, the magnet test is only the first test performed, before density and acid testing.
    Hanging notes, pictures, blueprints, etc.
Also handy for science experiments and demonstrations involving ferromagnetism
    Dimensions are:
    3/8" (10mm) diameter
    1 1/2" (38mm) body length
1/2" (13mm) diameter stainless steel split ring
1 3/4" (45) overall length with ring extended
    0.3 oz (10g) weight
6.5 lbs (3kg) pull strength (this IS NOT the lift rating, which would be reduced by a number of factors, including material composition, mass, shape, presence of coatings, etc.)
The aluminum casing protects the magnet from chipping and breaking, common with unmounted rare earth magnets, and a vinyl cap is provided for when the magnet is not in use.  These are hand made in the USA.
