    a serial number.

One-piece solid-cast brass hilt includes an S-shaped crossguard.  Massive pommel curving in Turkish fashion.

Prussian Naval Sabre, cutlass for ratings c.1860s (Wagner, plate 47), and Saxon Seitengewehre Short Sword, and Baden Pioneer Short Sword (by W.SCHMOLZ & C

) – all followed this antique example of spectacular design & execution.
