Description

This rare and fine condition pre-Civil War 1842 bayonet was used on many imported weapons for the Civil War. With a
27 3/4'' overall, 23'' single-edged spear point ''yataghan'' blade with single unstopped fullers. The blade is a light burnished smoky pewter with some areas of darker patina approaching the tip. Some light grind marks can be seen at the edges from a long-previous machine sharpening and a few tiny dings can be seen here or there at the edges and corners, otherwise the blade shows no major blemishes. The steel crosspiece is toned to a mottled dark gray-brown mostly at on the quillon and socket. The ribbed cast brass grip has acquired a pleasing burnished goldenrod tone and shows only superficial expected handling marks. Overall the bayonet is in very good plus to excellent condition.
Check my inventory for unusual and rare gun parts and other items. I  work  hard to find unusual items, and  try to keep the price affordable. My   descriptions are what I see, good , bad, ugly, etc. when listing. Rarely do I miss something in listing.
If you buy and item and are not satisfied let me know immediately rather than leave negative feedback, we  can come to some arrangement that will make you happy. I describe items to the best of my ability, however, sometimes it’s a good guess, as I don’t take things apart and sell, I find huge quantities of stuff from other people, not described by them. I think that several photos and several measurements should work for you. If you’re not sure an item will fit, best to not buy. All listings have a return privilege.  Sometimes I travel for my job and I’m not here for three or four days. I ship as soon as I can but  not  always immediately. Please be patient. Thank you for having confidence in me  and  bidding.
