Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.)
Exceptionally rare and important antique Chinese sancai cup dating to the Tang Dynasty. Warm buff clay coated with splendid drips of deep green, golden amber yellow, and creamy white ash glaze, melding together as they envelop the surface of the cup inside and out. A true delight as the translucent colors flow with the opaque white, creating a work of art resembling a modernist painting. And yet, this cup was potted over a thousand years ago. We have never come across one in such exceptional condition with utterly magnificent form and vibrant glaze. The cup bears just minor surface crazing and a most tasteful patina. A masterpiece.
