Edward Barnes was an important ENGLISH knife maker from SHEFFIELD ENGLAND.
He was first listed as a knife maker in 1833.
Barnes established his firm with his sons ISSAC and EDWARD IN 1845.
The company specialized in making products for the emerging AMERICAN market. The CIVIL WAR became a very strong market for their line of BOWIE type knives.
Barnes company remained in business until 1888.

This knife was made between 1845 and 1888.
The knife was cut down to a BOOT knife/dagger at some point and married up-to a vintage KNIFE CRAFTERS sheath.

CONDITION:
The knife has been cut down ...used...carried...and sharpened. There is discoloration.....dings.....and dents.
NO RUST.....The wood handle is in good shape considering it’s age.

The KNIFE CRAFTERS sheath has been used....and carried. There is no keeper strap. However, the knife fits well.
