early war nfg .69 cal U.S.musket BAYONET civil war m1816 type made in 1861/62

American civil war .69 cal. musket bayonet model 1816/1822 Bayonet
Smooth brown patina over light to moderate pitting, not quite relic condition, but close ,.. Great to match a similarly well used and neglected musket

US marking faint but it is there
made with out a Locking ring
this was made like the 'early' 1816 type - with out a locking ring ,..
the odd thing about this ,..is that the blade conforms to the later style ,.
the blade length and shape are identical to a model 1855/1861
these were  made in the first year or so of the war ,.. manufactured in 1861 into early 1862, for use on the old 69 caliber muskets or " pumpkin slingers "
the over all length is 20 "
the " blade " length is 17 1/2 " ,..and the socket length is about 3" ,..
this bayonet looks like it was an old early battle field pick up ,.. as it has light signs of pitting , over all -- the U.S. markings are still intact ,..
the inner socket is smooth ,.and the front sight locking slots are clean and clear,..
{ a collector had this on his musket at one time ,..}
this will be perfect a early war - flintlock to percussion musket ,..that were issued in the first years of the war ,.. untill the 'new' Springfield model,..the 1861 & 1863 could replace them
don't pass it up !
