    Description

    This auction is for a premium quality very scarce original Civil War Bowie fighting knife, marked: EDW'D. BARNES & SONS - THE HUNTER'S COMPANION - THE REAL LIFE DEFENDER - GARRICK WORKS - SHEFFIELD - WARRANTED OF THE BEST QUALITY - This classic British Stag Bowie was probably made in the 1850's, was made exclusively for the U.S. market, and was very possibly used in the American Civil War. This approx. 175 year old highly collectible hunting & fighting knife shows a handsome patina with some little spots of minor micro pitting, some sharpening marks, has a tight handle, German silver blade guard, and butt cap, overall still in very good+ condition. Please zoom in on all pictures for details. This knife measures 12 3/4" with an 8 1/4" blade and it weighs 7.5 oz.
