Description
Offered here is a presentation model 1850 Staff & Field Officer's sword of Colonel Royal Emerson Whitman(May 11, 1833 – February 12, 1913). He was an American army officer who served in the Civil War, Reconstruction and the Indian Wars. He was best known for his association with the 1871 Camp grant Massacre. He was the father of noted orthopedic surgeon Royal Whitman.

Condition: multiple nicks on the surface of the blade, with reddish stains, possibly blood stains.
Provenance: from the descendant of the family, with letters and photos of the colonel himself with the sword. These document will be part of the sale.
