Description
For sale is an original Austrian made Model 1842 bayonet. This served them until the Model 1854 Lorenz rifle and M1854 bayonet, with a much narrower cruciform blade. This one uses a System Laukart attachment with a 3 1/8" socket and a 19" long, wicked looking 1 1/16" wide cruciform blade which looks like it would be strong enough for all appropriate uses.It has arsenal and weapon number stampings on the shank.
Austrian bayonets often develop deep, dark red corrosive patinas (rust) and this one was no example. It has been cleaned of active rust only with non-abrasive cloths and rust converter and is rust free.
This is a nice example of a very hard to find Austrian M1842 bayonet.
