Description
FIRST THING FIRST, THE METAL CONTENT ON THESE ITEMS ARE NOT MARKED. GENERAL CONSENSUS INDICATES IT IS SILVERPLATE. HOWEVER IT IS UNLIKE SILVERPLATE I HAVE HANDELED AND INDICATES TO ME EITHER PEWTER OR SOME MIXTURE OF CONTENT.WHAT WE DO KNOW, FIRST PAT'N IS BY JAs. STIMPSON 1854- LATER MERIDIN 1886. ALL PIECES ARE WITH A RICH AND HEAVY PATINA.
THE PITCHER STANDS APPROX 13.5'' TALL, HAS AN ENAMELED LINER WITH FILTER, ORNATE ETCHED DESIGN, A THUMBPRINT SIZE DING ON UPPERS THAT DO NOT EXTEND THROUGH TO THE LINER. IT IS ALSO ENGRAVED WITH "M.J. HUEY" AS WELL AS THE START & ENDING DATE OF THE CIVIL WAR. THERE IS ALSO A INCONSEQUENTIAL DING AT THE BASE.
THE GOBLETS STAND APPROX 7 1/4'' TALL, ENGRAVED M.J.H. . THE STEM ON ONE WILL NEED RE SOLDERING AS IT IS BROKEN, THE OTHER SHOWS SIGNS OF PRIOR SOLDERING.
( YOU WOULD
NOT NORMALLY SEE SOLDERING ON SILVERPLATED ITEMS.)
BOTH GOBLET FIGURINES ARE MISSING RIGHT ARMS AND BOTH VESSELS HAVE MINOR DINGS.
OFFERED AS IS AND A FINAL SALE.
