CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE SIDE KNIFE WITH THE ORIGINAL SHEATH CA 1862 VERY RARE. MEASURES 12 1/2 INCHES OVERALL WITH A 8 INCH BLADE.
What a great piece! This is an original Confederate side knife with the original sheath. This knife is the perfect side to do an immense amount of damage. The knife measures 12-1/4th inches in overall size with the blade making up 8 of those inches. Th blade is a fierce looking spear point design with the edge on each side. At the base of the blade it tapers back down to meet the simple oval iron crossguard. The handle of the knife is made of a 2-piece pair of wood panels held in place by 2 iron pins. The wood has a fine well worn look. The knife is accompanied by the leather sheath. The sheath is the original one and fits it like a glove. It is constructed of 2 pieces of leather that are sewn in place with 2 crude brass rivets at the top to help secure it in place. This is a wonderful piece of history!
