Designed primarily for DJ use in nightclubs, touring and mobile applications, the AT-LP1240-USB XP from Audio-technica is a superbly-made, professional-quality DJ turntable that features fully manual operation, direct-drive, and comes outfitted with the AT-XP5 DJ cartridge. Enjoy the best of new along with classic technology with its included PC- and Mac-compatible Audacity® software that converts the audio on a record to MP3, WAV or other format digital audio files, as well as a USB output that enables direct connection to a computer for easy LP-to-digital conversion. It'll deliver exceptional music reproduction even under the most demanding conditions of professional use, taking advantage of a powerful direct-drive 16-pole, 3-phase motor for unwavering speed stability along with easy back-cueing, forward and reverse play and quiet operation at 33-⅓, 45 or 78RPM.
Its additional DJ-friendly features include a damped cast-aluminum platter with stroboscopic speed markings and slip mat, plus illuminated speed indicator and adjustable pitch control, a start/stop button, a removable stylus target light, a dedicated tone arm grounding lug, a hydraulically-damped lift lever mechanism and a locking tone arm rest that keeps the arm and cartridge in place during transport.
The included Audio-technica XP5 cartridge features a unique combination of high-fidelity performance and precise tracking and is specially designed to meet the needs of DJs. It has ideal tracking force range of 2 to 4 grams and offers a powerful output level of 5.5 mV. Its 0.3 x 0.7mil elliptical bonded stylus tracks the record groove with high accuracy for outstanding audio reproduction, and its highly rigid, lightweight polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)/glass fiber body minimizes unwanted vibrations. Plus, the cartridge design provides maximum visibility of the stylus tip.
