    Description

Authentic Civil War U.S. Musician's Sword with Original Scabbard made by the Ames.
This has a brass cross guard with brass handle. The sword is signed by the maker "Ames
of Chicopee, Mass..  The straight single edged blade is 28" in length and is straight.  The blade is in good condition. It has Ames maker mark on one side of the ricasso and "U.S." with a worn mark beneath on the opposite side.  It has a solid brass grip and guard that are in very good condition and firm to the blade.  The knuckle guard is marked "A.D.K.".  It came to me with its original leather tarred scabbard.   The brass drag is also marked "A.D.K.".  The stitching is tight with a 2" opening only.  There is a break which goes about 2/3 around the scabbard at the start of the drag (please see the last photo).  It is not torn off and could be fixed.
This sword is in overall very good original condition with a wonderful aged patina. The sword measures approx. 34 1/4" Long with a 28" blade. The total length of the sword in scabbard is 35". The sword slides nicely in and out of the scabbard!
