    Description

This is an antique sword made by Ames in Massachusetts.
It is model M1840 dated and stamped 1863.
    The blade is 32-1/4" long.
The ricasso has "U.S.",  initials "AHC" and "1863".
The other side has the Ames information stamped.
The knuckle guard has " A.D.K." stamped.
The condition is very nice. It is solid. There is a "patina" but no real damage to either blade or handle and guard.
There are typical age signs but it is still in very nice condition.
The scabbard has some rust spots that I prefer to let the new owner decide if to polish these off or leave it as is.
When I purchased it the dealer said that the scabbard it not the actual one issued with the sword. But it works OK.
The scabbard had a dealer's hand-written sticker (I still have it) that says "Ames NCO Sword 1863".
Shipping is not cheap because of the length of the box.
    Thank you.
