1842 DENMARK Silver 3 RIGSBANKSKILLING King CHRISTIAN VIII "Altona" GERMANY MINT
    Description
This is a very nice, very nearly, if not fully uncirculated, silver
    "Three Rigsbankskilling"
from Denmark. It was struck at the Altona mint in what is now Germany, but was then under Denmark, in 1842, during the reign of King Christian VIII.
Christian was twice a King. He was briefly King of Norway, from May to October of 1814, but he abdicated after Denmark was forced to give Norway to Sweden. Denmark had been forced onto the wrong side during the Napoleonic wars and lost Norway in 1814 as a result. Christian became King of Denmark in 1839 and reigned until his death from blood poisoning in 1848. He was followed by his son Frederick VII.
Weight: 1.58 Grams, 15 Millimeters, .229 Silver. Mintage: Unknown.

    The Coin:
A beautiful, lustrous specimen, with a few small spots and just a bit of possible
    “rub”
on the high spots. Silver of this low purity quickly turns dark in circulation. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
