Description
Authentic 1800's Confederate Bowie Knife owned by J.L. White Texas Rangers. Blade measures 10” and was made from a thick file. Knife measures 15” overall. Curved steel cross guard. Wooden handles secured by hand peened brass rivets. Handles carved with “8th Texas Cav” on one side and “J.L. White” -with a small star- on the other. Knife is very well made and stable. No looseness whatsoever. Pictures were taken outside in full sun to display most accurately.J.L. White rode with Terry’s Texas Rangers and served at Wheeler, Wharton’s and Harrison Brigades. Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Ft. Pillow, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Savannah and was injured at McMinnville in 1864. J.L. White entered as a private and became a Captain, he fought in over 275 engagements in 7 states. This knife was possibly made by E.M. Bussey of Brazoria Co. Texas who was the blacksmith for the 8th Texas Cavalry.
Knife is guaranteed authentic. Will come with small write up that I received when I originally purchased years ago.
